MALTA Classification at Local Administrative Unit (LAU), Level 1
Agrikoltura, Sajd, Forestrija u IkelThe local administrative units, abbreviated as LAUs, form a system for dividing up the economic territory of the European Union (EU) for the purpose of statistics at local level. They have been set up by Eurostat and they are compatible with NUTS. The LAU classification is equivalent to the classification of all Maltese localities into six districts by Malta Geographic Codes (MGC).At local level, two levels of LAU have been defined: The upper level (LAU1, formerly NUTS level 4)The lower level (LAU2, formerly NUTS level 5) -
MALTA Classification at NUTS 3 Level
Agrikoltura, Sajd, Forestrija u IkelThe Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics (NUTS) was established by Eurostat to provide a single uniform breakdown of territorial units for the production of regional statistics for the European Union. -
Malta European geostatistical 1km grid
Agrikoltura, Sajd, Forestrija u IkelThis dataset series contains geographical grids of 1km grid cell size for Malta. The main attributes are a Grid ID coding the East and North coordinate of the lower left corner of each grid cell plus the hierarchy level plus the quad-tree level. And the INSPIREID of the lower grid cell corner. The grid has been created following the requirements of COMMISSION REGULATION (EU) No 1089/2010 of 23 November 2010 implementing Directive 2007/2/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards interoperability of spatial data sets and services and the INSPIRE Specification on Geographical Grid Systems - Guidelines. The grid can be used to represent all kinds of statistical and scientific values. The main application is the representation of demographic data (population). This 1km grid was provided by the Eurostat European Commission -

National Designated Areas (NatDA)
Agrikoltura, Sajd, Forestrija u IkelThe NatDA formerly known as the Common Database on Designated Areas (CDDA) is more commonly known as Nationally designated areas, and is one of the agreed Eionet priority data flows maintained by EEA with support from the European Topic Centre on Biological Diversity. It is a result of an annual data flow through Eionet countries. In fact, Malta, being a member of the EEA, submits this report on an annual basis to fulfill this requirement. The EEA publishes the data set and makes it available to the World Database of Protected Areas (WDPA). The NatDA data can also be queried online in the European Nature Information System (EUNIS). -
Natura 2000 - Biotopes
Agrikoltura, Sajd, Forestrija u IkelThe submission of sites to the EC entails the preparation of a datasheet and a map for each site, that is for each proposed SCI and for each SPA, unless a proposed SCI has the exact boundary as an SPA; in the latter case only one datasheet is prepared comprising all relevant information. Reference can be made to the Natura 2000 viewer - including datasheets (link: http://natura2000.eea.europa.eu/) and to the Natura 2000 database (link: http://www.eea.europa.eu/data-and-maps/data/natura-2000/) to obtain information on each Natura 2000 site for almost all of the EU Member States. Information for the sites nominated by Malta are also available through these same links. -
Natura 2000 - SCIs
Agrikoltura, Sajd, Forestrija u IkelNatura 2000 is a network of protected areas across the European Union, with the aim of affording protection to habitats and species of wild fauna and flora of Community interest. Conservation and management measures have to be established and implemented to ensure that the condition of the natural habitats and species for which the protected areas have been designated, is maintained and/or restored, in order to ensure their long-term survival/existence. -

Agrikoltura, Sajd, Forestrija u IkelThis layer shows the night time noise indicator levels which represent the noise indicator for sleep disturbance in roads present in the agglomeration as defined for Malta according to the requirements of Directive 2002/49/EC relating to the assessment and management of environmental noise. -
NtM No5 of 2008 - Conservation area around wrecks
Agrikoltura, Sajd, Forestrija u IkelThe Veterinary Regulation and Fisheries Conservation and Control within the VAFD has set a number of conservation areas around wrecks. These are considered as "NO STOPPING AREAS". Anchoring is allowed to divers' vessels only after pre-notification to the Valletta VTS. Masters of diving support vessels are to ensure that collisions at sea and international code of signals, are shown at all times. Furthermore, spear fishing and the use of fishing gear such as set bottom lines, trammel nets, gill nets and entangling nets, encircling nets, demersal pots and traps are prohibited in these areas. Only surface fishing is allowed including trolling lines (rixa) and angling for pelagic fish. (Other charts affected). This data was funded by of one of the co-financed EU LIFE+ Funding Programmes - LIFE BaĦAR for N2K project. -
Official Trawling Zones - Amended 2012
Agrikoltura, Sajd, Forestrija u IkelRegulations are in place to spatially manage offshore trawling efforts within the FMZ: trawling within the 25 nautical mile zone can, according to legislation, only take place at designated sites (detailed in Annex Va of EC 1967/2006 and as amended in 2012). These trawlable areas were chosen when Malta joined the EU in 2004, and were based on an FAO study on the location of areas suitable for trawling in Maltese waters carried out in 1976 / 1977 (Giudicelli, 1978). In addition trawling is only allowed within the FMZ by vessels not exceeding an overall length of 24 m, and the overall capacity of the trawlers allowed to fish in the zone can not exceed 4 800 kW. Moreover, the total fishing effort of all vessels is not allowed to exceed an overall engine power and tonnage of 83 000 kW and 4 035 GT respectively, and the fishing capacity of any single vessel with a license to operate at less than 200 m depth can not exceed 185 kW. This data was utilised by one of the co-financed EU LIFE+ Funding Programmes - LIFE BaĦAR for N2K project. -
Parcels of Registered Land
Agrikoltura, Sajd, Forestrija u IkelThe main functions and responsibilities of the Land Registry emanate from the Land Registration Act (Chapter 296 of the Laws of Malta) primarily in receiving applications for the registration of immovable property within registration areas. -
Radiation Air Points 2019
Agrikoltura, Sajd, Forestrija u IkelThis data set shows the location of sampling points for the levels of radionuclides in ambient air. A high volume sampler (HVS) is situated in Bengħajsa and is used to monitor radionuclide levels in total air particulates. Gamma dose rate in monitored continuously in Bengħajsa, Attard, Xemxija and Għarb. Such monitoring is carried out according to the requirements arising from Commission Recommendation 2000/473/Euratom. -
Radiation Soil Points 2019
Agrikoltura, Sajd, Forestrija u IkelSoil samples are collected once a year from four points along Malta and Gozo. Samples are sent to an accredited Laboratory for radionuclide analysis. Such monitoring is carried out according to the requirements arising from Commission Recommendation 2000/473/Euratom.
